EBERS Medical Technology SL
EBERS is a Spanish SME which is developing a portable normothermic perfusion device for the ex vivo preservation and viability assessment of solid organs —kidney and liver— for transplantation. This new medical device is based on proprietary novel technology that extends the preservation time, improves the clinical results, provides real-time objective information about the function and viability of the organ and allows increasing the donor pool. EBERS has already obtained excellent results in preclinical tests and is now working to obtain the CE marking of the device and demonstrate its potential in a multi-center clinical trial through the EU-funded NORMOPERF project. In addition, the company has a second business line focused on the design, manufacture and commercialization of cell culture scientific equipment and labware with applications in the fields of tissue engineering, regenerative medicine and 3D cell culture.
About Horizon 2020 and SME Instrument: Horizon 2020 is the biggest EU Research and Innovation programme ever with nearly € 80 billion of funding available over 7 years (2014 to 2020). It promises breakthroughs, discoveries and world-firsts by taking great ideas from the lab to the market. Horizon 2020 funds high-potential innovation through a dedicated SME instrument which supports SMEs with a clear commercial ambition and a potential for high growth and internationalization. The instrument provides full-cycle business innovation support from the stage of business idea conception and planning (phase I) over business plan execution and demonstration (phase II) to commercialization (phase III).
